Huskies looking for a quick turnaround

The St. Anthony Village High School football team last year suffered through its worst season under head coach Todd Niklaus. The Huskies won just twice and had a losing record for the first time since 2009.

St. Anthony begins what it hopes to be a bounce-back season on Friday when it hosts Brooklyn Center starting at 7 p.m.

Fastpitch softball round-up

• A schedule change pushed the final two rounds of loser’s-bracket play in Section 4AA past the early holiday deadline for this edition of the Bulletin. St. Anthony Village was one of the teams involved in those games.
• Rain early last week pushed all the games in the Section 5AAA playoffs back a day, meaning Irondale’s third game was played past the early deadline for this edition of the Bulletin.
• The Mustangs saw their season come to an end in the third round of the Section 4AAA playoffs last week. Mounds View went 1-2 in the post-season and finished the year with a record of 8-15.

Huskies, Mustangs draw high seeds in baseball sections

The baseball teams from Mounds View High School and St. Anthony Village High School both earned high seeds in their respective section tournaments and began their quest for a state-tournament berth over the weekend. Because of an early holiday deadline, results of those games were unavailable for this edition of the Bulletin.
