LETTER: Adults need to act on climate change

To the Editor:

We invite everyone, especially adults, to join young people at the St. Paul climate strike taking place at the Western Sculpture Park near the Capitol on Friday, Sept. 20, 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This get-together marks the beginning of weeklong events around the world to draw attention to the urgency of climate change and the need for immediate climate action. Our Minnesota teens and pre-teens have joined others, including well-known student climate activist Greta Thunberg from Sweden, to voice their climate concerns and band together through groups such as Fridays for Our Future and Global Climate Strike.

While our youth are understandably worried about the devastating impacts of climate change on their future, they need adult involvement to ensure our government takes action now to address this alarming issue. The timeframe for effective climate action is right now and our youth are counting on our support. For more information visit www.MN350.org.
