Ringing in the Votes for Women

For the fourth year, First in the Nation Suffrage Celebration is sponsoring a free community event to honor South St Paul’s pioneering female voters, who became the very first American women to vote under the 19th Amendment on Aug. 27, 1920. This year’s event, “Ringing in Votes for Women”, will feature a magic lantern show—complete with suffrage songs performed by “The Justice Bells” and the “Clark-Grace Choir” with plenty of opportunities for the audience to sing-a-long. Following the performance, the public is invited to view an art exhibition entitled “A Seat at the Table” while enjoying a dessert reception. Free and open to the public, this will run from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 27, at Clark Grace Church, 779 15th Ave. N., South St. Paul. For more information email
