As a freshman, Barnabas Preble was the No. 2 runner on the Concordia Academy boys cross country team in 2015. The top Beacon from last year was a senior and Preble has stepped into the No. 1 spot this season as a sophomore.

Preble has been the top-finishing runner on the team in all of the events this season.

He opened the season by placing 14th out of 100 runners at the Academy of Holy Angels Invitational and followed that up with third-place performances in the Tri-Metro Conference preview, the Peach Run and the Ron Kretsch Invitational. The Milaca Mega Meet was next and Preble finished 49th out of 290 competitors.

Concordia Academy’s most recent event was the Blaine Invitational on Oct. 6 at Majestic Oaks Golf Course. Preble crossed the finish line in 11th place.

With this week off, the Beacons are prepping for the Tri-Metro Conference championship meet on Oct. 18 at Battle Creek Regional Park and the Section 4A state-qualifying meet on Oct. 27 also at Battle Creek.
