County purchases parcel at park entrance

Washington County will add a parcel of land to the Lake Elmo Park Reserve, after the County Board approved the purchase July 28.

The purchase of the property at 10112 10th St. in Lake Elmo was initiated by the property owners who told the county they were interested in selling the property. The purchase price is $930,000, and will be funded by Land and Water Legacy Program (LWLP) proceeds. Metropolitan Council funding will reimburse the LWLP fund for 75 percent of the acquisition cost, or $697,500.

An appraisal was completed and reviewed by the county board and it was determined to be a desirable parcel for inclusion into Lake Elmo Park Reserve. The county previously made an amendment to the park reserve master plan, which added the parcel into the park boundary.
