Candidate filing for council, school board opens July 28

Candidates who wish to run in this fall’s city and school board elections — those that did not have primaries and earlier filing dates — should ready themselves for July 28, the day on which they can begin filing for office.

Filing is open through Ramsey County Elections from 8 a.m. Tuesday, July 28 through 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11.

The following seats are open in the Roseville Review area:

• Falcon Heights mayor
• Three at-large Falcon Heights council member seats
• Three at-large Roseville Area Schools District 623 School Board seats

The filing fee for all of the positions above is $2. Those seeking to file an affidavit of candidacy must do so at the Ramsey County Elections office, 90 West Plato Blvd., Suite 160 in St. Paul.

In Falcon Heights, Mayor Peter Lindstrom’s seat is up for election, along with those of council members Joe Brown Thunder, Beth Mercer-Taylor and Chuck Long. Mayor and council member terms are four years.

On the Roseville Area Schools board, the seats of board members Erin Azer, Lisa Edstrom and Kaying Thao are up for election. School board terms are four years.
