Roseville fire chief asks for more firefighters

The Roseville Fire Department is looking to add nine firefighters to its full-time ranks, and took its case to the Roseville City Council’s Jan. 7 meeting.

Solar-supported ice house part of new MVPS vocational programs


courtesy of Greg Helgeson A high school student worked on part of an ice fishing house at Irondale High School. The project is part of the Mounds View school district’s Pathways to Possibilities program that supports college and workforce prep.

High school students started building their ice fishing house just outside of Irondale High School in the early fall, when the weather was warmer.

Throughout the semester, the weather turned colder, and work had to move inside.

Matt Hudson INH Properties agreed to purchase land on the corner of County Road H2 and Mounds View Boulevard to build a 127-unit apartment complex.

The Mounds View Economic Development Authority approved a land sale on Jan. 7 that paves the way for construction of an apartment complex.

For Bhutanese refugees, civics lessons come with police assistance


Matt Hudson Roseville police officer Won Chau spoke to a group of Bhutanese refugees during an English language learning class on Jan. 16. The officer has been visiting the group for about a year to take questions about adjusting to life in the United States.

After a short break period, some 35 Bhutanese refugees sat down in a basement room of the Rose Hill Alliance Church in Roseville.
