Family: 'He was not himself when this occurred'
When Benjamin Cornell Beaudoin forced himself into two northern Minnesota homes July 26, he faced two men with guns. The first broke the stock of a shotgun on his head; the second shot the Mendota Heights man who later died at a hospital, police say.

Officials suspect fire was set intentionally
It took about an hour and half for firefighters to control the flames engulfing a semi-trailer stuffed more than three-quarters full with tires, floor to ceiling, before the sun came up July 28 in South St. Paul.

City plans to issue notices to residents with ash trees
At one point, the fear of a nationwide die-off of ash trees had the staff at Inver Grove Heights City Hall planning to remove all ashes growing on city property.
More recently, that plan has changed.

New stadium added to list of considerations
Time is running out for the School District 197 board members to decide whether or not to bring a referendum to the voters this fall, after taking a hard loss in May’s special election.
A mailbox was vandalized recently in a spree that included vulgar and sexually explicit images and words scratched and spray-painted into vehicles and houses in Mendota Heights. A $500 is being offered for information. (Submitted photo)
A local group recently increased the reward offered for information leading to the arrest and charging of the vandals who recently spray-painted racial slurs, sexual images and expletives on vehicles, homes and mailboxes around Mendota Heights.
