Former ISD 623 superintendent remembered

Lloyd Nielsen died Nov. 5
Although he left the Roseville school district in 1986, the legacy of Dr. Lloyd Nielsen’s 19-year stint as superintendent remains visible.
Nielsen, 88, passed away last month from complications of Alzheimer’s, and is survived by his three children, one of whom is a teacher in ISD 623 today.

Little Canada man pleads guilty to crash that injured 5

Matthew Damman admitted to using drugs before driving into light pole in May
On Monday, Nov. 24, a Little Canada man pleaded guilty to two felony counts of criminal vehicular operation and one felony count of fleeing a police officer.
According to the charges, Matthew Damman, 32, drove into a light pole in St. Paul in May, sending it through the window of a nearby bar, injuring five people.

A stretch of Interstate 694 in Shoreview is set to be widened in about a year’s time, and the Minnesota Department of Transportation will hold an open house Dec. 4 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Last week, the Roseville Fire Department sent five firefighters to Pueblo, Colorado, to the Security and Emergency Response Training Center (SERTC) for a three-day emergency response training session on crude oil by rail.
