Roseville unveils new fire station

Fire department personnel led members of the local media on a guided tour of Roseville’s new 35,000-square-foot fire station on Thursday, Oct. 10.
The $9.2 million state-of-the-art facility stands on the site of the city’s original fire station, built in the 1930’s, just north of city hall at 2701 Lexington Ave. North.

Linder’s says goodbye


Linder’s Garden Center will likely be closed by mid-November.

After more than 100 years in business, Linder’s Greenhouses will be saying its final farewell to the Twin Cities Area.
“The Linder family has made the decision to close Linder’s Greenhouses Inc.,” the company announced last week. “We will be having an orderly wind down of the business in the coming weeks. We would like to thank all of our customers, our staff and the Twin Cities community for their support in our 100+ years of business.”

Referendum for Roseville Area Schools to be held Nov. 5

On this year’s ballot, voters will see a request by the school board to approve a new operating levy for Roseville Area Schools.
In November, District 623 residents will be asked to vote on a proposed eight-year operating levy that would generate $1,505 per student in the district. The current operating levy for Roseville Area Schools, which generates $1,575 per pupil, is set to expire on June 30, 2014.

Roseville massage therapist faces new charges

Brandon Lee Palmer, a massage therapist and owner of the now closed Serene Body Therapy Health and Wellness Center on Snelling Avenue in Roseville, faces 13 new counts of criminal sexual conduct.
The new charges were filed last month in Ramsey County District Court. There are now a total of seven women who, according to criminal complaints, have accused Palmer, 31, of unwanted sexual contact during massages he gave them at Serene Body Therapy.

With Boys Totem Town’s 100-year anniversary, staff talk changes

With its 100-year anniversary celebration coming up this Wednesday, Boys Totem Town is a facility in transition.
The Ramsey County correctional facility houses juveniles, including some East Side kids, who are there after sentencing for crimes ranging from misdemeanors to felonies. The offenses can include everything from thefts to assaults.

Conor Holt, a Roseville native, is coming home to Minnesota to premiere two short films at Twin Cities-based film festivals this October: “Storytime” at the Minneapolis Underground Film Festival on Oct. 5 (4 p.m.), and “A Better Life” at the Twin Cities Film Fest on Oct. 20 (5 p.m.).
