Oakdale police officer earns violence prevention award



Sgt. Jack Kettler of the Oakdale Police Department, was recently awarded The Partnership’s Violence Prevention Peace Officer of the Year award for 2005.

Kettler was nominated for the award for his work with the 29 Pines manufactured home community in Oakdale.

In probably the most ideal weather for baseball this season, the Hill-Murray Pioneers moved to Municipal Stadium in St. Paul June 6 to continue their quest for a berth in the State Class AAA Baseball Tournament.

A torrential downpour took precedent over the start of the state girls softball tournament at Caswell Park in Mankato June 10.

Following a two-hour delay while the fields dried off, North and Lakeville squared off in one of four opening Class AAA games.

Important work got done this session

The 2005 regular legislative session ended without work being finished on K-12 education funding and other major issues. While I had hoped we would finish on time, I join my colleagues in a spirit of compromise and commitment to reaching agreement on the issues that remain to be resolved.

Titans run past opposition in Section 3AA track

The Tartan Titans accomplished a season best at Park High School June 2, when they topped the Section 3AA boys track meet with a team total of 123.5 points.

Of those points, Tartan senior James Kalimu garnered 23 1/2 points.
