Letter: Thankful for thrift store volunteers

To the Editor:

Every day we are blessed to work with people who make the world a better place by contributing to their community.
Seven days a week, volunteers come to Arc’s Value Village Thrift Stores & Donation Centers to welcome donors, unpack boxes and bags of donations, stock the sales floor and greet customers with a smile.

Letter: Late start time will hurt Johnson’s sports teams

To the Editor:
This year Johnson High School has Metro Transit instead of school busing, and we start the day later than any of the other St. Paul public high schools. My opinion on the second change is that I don't like it. I do like Metro Transit busing kids to Johnson, but I don't like the new late start.

Letter: Co-op brings value to neighborhood

To the Editor:
My husband and I moved to Dayton's Bluff in 2008. Though the closest location at the time was Selby-Dale, we also joined Mississippi Market, where we purchased about one-third of our food. Since the Dayton's Bluff Mississippi Market opened in early September, we now buy approximately two-thirds of our groceries there.

Letter: East Side pride

To the editor:

I have been a home-owner in the Westminster/Case neighborhood since 2000. I also operate a licensed family childcare, so I have a few reasons to be activity in the community.

Letter: RUSH Line options

To the editor:
Thirty-seven years ago I left Washington, D.C. to take a job here with MnDOT to helping increase ridesharing. At the time there were 1.2 people per car on the road. Unfortunately, I believe that statistic is still the same.
A few years later, a settled homeowner, I testified at a neighborhood hearing about future uses of the former Burlington Northern train track right-of-way, now the Bruce Vento Bike Trail, which is right behind my home. As a good planner I took the long view, supporting its consideration as a future light rail route.

Letter: Improving the health of our community

To the editor:
I want to thank State Representative Sheldon Johnson, Senate Disctrict 67B and State Senator Foung Hawj, Senate District 67, for taking time out of their busy schedules to discuss the need to support measures that will increase active living and physical activity among Minnesota's youth, thereby helping to combat childhood obesity.
