Suicide Prevention Collaborative 2nd annual 5k run/walk is July 28
The Suicide Prevention Collaborative (SPC) will have its second annual fundraiser 5k run/walk Saturday, July 28, at Hamlet Park, 8833 Hamlet Road S. in Cottage Grove.
Pre-registration is encouraged. Race day registration is at 8 a.m., and the walk starts at 9 a.m. Fees for the walk before July 21 are $20 for those 18 and older; $15 for those ages 5-17; those ages 4 and younger are free. There will be drawings for prizes. Walkers and runners of all abilities are welcome. The SPC is a community-based group dedicated to preventing teen suicide in the eastern metropolitan area of the Twin Cities through education, awareness, collaboration, and advocacy. SPC is committed to increasing awareness about depression and other mental illnesses, the warning signs of suicide, and the need for professional treatment. Members of SPC include local area teens and representatives from PrairieCare, Central and Priority Pediatrics, Penticoff Community Counseling, Inc., Fuerst Child and Family Psychological Services, Counseling Psychologists of Woodbury, P.A., Sentier Psychotherapy, Washington County Teen Health Fund and Youth Service Bureau, Inc.
