Raiders finish fourth in section softball playoffs

The Roseville Area High School fastpitch softball team saw its season come to an end last week but not before making some noise in the section playoffs. The Raiders went 2-2 in the post-season and finished fourth in Section 4AAA.

Roseville's big win in the post-season was its second-round upset of top-seeded Hill-Murray. That victory improved the Raiders' post-season record to 2-0.

Things went south after that, however, as Roseville fell 8-4 to fourth-seeded White Bear Lake in the third round and was eliminated by second-seeded North St. Paul in the fourth round.

White Bear Lake went on to reach the section final, where it lost twice to Stillwater. The Ponies will represent Section 4AAA in this week's Class AAA state tournament in North Mankato.

Roseville finished the season with an overall record of 10-12, an improvement of six victories over last season.
