RAHS fastpitch hosts playoff opener Monday
The Roseville Area High School fastpitch softball team enters Monday's section playoff game hoping a week off hasn't squelched its momentum. The Raiders' closed out the regular season by winning five of their final seven games.
Roseville (8-11), seeded eighth, opens the Section 4AAA tournament at home at 4:30 p.m. against ninth-seeded St. Paul Como Park. The Cougars enter Monday's game 15-5 and having won eight of their last 10 ballgames.
Among Roseville's victories in its late-season surge was a 4-3 win over Forest Lake, which was unbeaten at the time, on May 9.
The Roseville/Como Park winner advances to the second round on Tuesday against top-seeded and 10th-ranked Hill-Murray.
Roseville must beat Como and Hill-Murray to advance to the double-elimination portion of the section tournament. Once the tournament is down to four teams, all action shifts to the McKnight softball complex in North St. Paul.
