NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

ON A PROPOSAL FOR THE CONSENT TO THE ISSUANCE OF A REVENUE NOTE FOR 

THE GLOBAL ACADEMYPROJECT 

Notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of New Brighton, Minnesota (the “City”) will meet at the City Hall, 803 Old Highway 8 NW, in the City, at 6:30 P.M. on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, to consider giving host approval and consent to the issuance by the City of Landfall Village, Minnesota (the “Issuer”) of revenue notes, in one or more series (the “Note”), under Minnesota Statutes, Sections 469.152 through 469.165, as amended (the “Act”), in order to finance the cost of a project located in the City. 

Global Academy ABC, a Minnesota nonprofit corporation and 501(c)(3) organization, (the “Borrower”), proposes to finance the acquisition, renovation, and equipping of an approximately 64,000 square-foot, grades Pre-Kindergarten through 8 public (charter) school facility that will leased to Global Academy, a Minnesota nonprofit corporation (the “School”), by the Borrower, to be located on approximately 8 acres at 3000 5th Street NW, in the City of New Brighton, Minnesota (the “Project”), and certain other costs related to the Project. The Project will be owned and operated by the Borrower and leased to and operated by the School. 

The maximum estimated principal amount of the Note to be issued to finance the Project is $8,500,000. 

The Note, if and when issued, will not constitute a charge, lien or encumbrance upon any property of the City or the Issuer, and such obligation will not be a charge against the general credit or taxing powers of the City or the Issuer but will be payable from sums to be paid by the Borrower pursuant to a revenue agreement. 

At the time and place fixed for the public hearing, the City Council will give all persons who appear at the hearing an opportunity to express their views with respect to the proposal. Written comments will be considered if submitted at the above City office on or before the date of the hearing.

ORDINANCE SUMMARY

ORDINANCE NO. 963

AN ORDINANCE AMENDINGCITYCODE 706, TOBACCO PRODUCTS 

On the 7th day of May, 2018, the Shoreview City Council adopted Ordinance No. 963 by five affirmative votes. Pursuant to Minn. Stat. §412.191, Subd. 4, on the 21st day of May, 2018, the Shoreview City Council directed that a summary of the Ordinance No. 963 be published. 

Shoreview Ordinance No. 963 is entitled “An Ordinance of the City of Shoreview, Minnesota, Amending City Code 706, Tobacco Products” and will become effective on July 1, 2018. Ordinance No. 963 includes amending language throughout Section 706 to increase the purchase age for tobacco, tobacco-related products, and tobacco-related devices from 18 to 21 years old. The Ordinance also includes adding language to Section 706.090, Compliance Checks and Inspections and removing language from Section 706.100, Other Illegal Acts. 

A copy of the Ordinance No. 963 is available for inspection by any person during regular business hours at the office of the City Manager, 4600 North Victoria Street, Shoreview, Minnesota 55126.

ORDINANCE NO. 964

AN ORDINANCE AMENDINGMAYOR AND COUNCIL SALARIES 

The Shoreview City Council ordinates that Section 302.010(A) and 302.010(B) of the Shoreview Municipal Code is amended to read as follows: 

302.01. Compensation. The Mayor and Councilmembers of the City of Shoreview shall be compensated as follows: 

(A) As of January 1, 2019, the salary of the Mayor shall be Eight Hundred and Nineteen dollars ($819) per month. 

(B) As of January 1, 2019, the salaries of Shoreview City Council members shall be Six Hundred and Eight dollars ($608) per month. 

Adoption Date. Passed by the City Council of the City of Shoreview on the 7th day of May 2018. 

Effective Date. This ordinance shall become effective upon passage and following publication in the City’s official newspaper.
