A pickup in a Little Canada bar

Any of the five patrons getting home late from the bar Wednesday afternoon, May 30 because they said they were pinned inside, were telling family members the truth. A pickup truck crashed through the wall of Gordie’s Place on Little Canada Road Wednesday afternoon, pinning the five against the bar. A passing deputy sheriff saw the eastbound vehicle cross the westbound lanes, take out a utility pole, and then hit the building. A neighbor with a Bobcat helped free the victims. The patrons, as well as the 49-year-old driver of the pickup, were taken to a hospital with unknown injuries. A diabetic reaction is thought to have caused the Fridley woman to lose control, according to authorities.

Catfight
• Deputies responded to a disturbance the evening of May 16 featuring pair of 21-year-old women, apparently a little more involved than roommates usually are, after they had knocked back more than a few. The romance became tenuous when one roommate admitted she was pregnant and was rewarded with a punch in the mouth. Deputies were called and the victim, who tested a big .23 percent BAC, was transported to Ramsey County Detox. The spurned roommate, sporting a BAC of .10 percent, was arrested and booked at the jail on charges of domestic assault, fifth degree assault and disorderly conduct.

Felony theft
• A 2004 black Suzuki motorcycle went missing May 16 in the 100 block of Big Circle Drive. The bike was valued at $2,000.

“Mom shot me”
• Demon rum may have played a role in a May 13 incident at a local trailer park when dad suggested that grandma “shoot the house” across the street using an Airsoft BB rifle, re-fitted as something known among aficionados in these parts as a “potato gun.” Instead 81-year-old grandma, admittedly a heck of a shot, fired off a half-dozen rounds at her 60-year-old daughter, winging her each time even as grandma ducked the water bottle thrown her way. Deputies referred this head-scratcher to the city attorney for possible charges.
