North changes choir concert date to May 22
With a full slate of athletic meets, Advanced Placement testing and other year-end activities, North Choir Director Peg Sorensen found recently that her choirs -- all three of them -- would have to give.
Thanks to having student athletes, AP scholars and other multitalented singers, the choirs might have been missing a few voices had they stuck with their original May 24 concert date this year.
So, she and choir members had to change the date to two days earlier: 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 22 at the North High School auditorium, 2416 11th Ave. N., North St. Paul.
North's choirs are noted by both local fans and statewide judges. Just this year the concert choir and concert chorale entered the state competition with 35 solos and group performances; of those, 28 received the top "superior" rating. The Northern Lights show choir has competed in finals in four of their six competitions this year.
On May 22, North's bel canto, concert and show choirs will each perform three numbers, illustrating their mastery of a variety of styles. The concert will conclude with all three choirs performing a medley from "The Lion King."
Admission at the door is $3 for adults and $2 for students and seniors.
