An Evening of the Odds: New Work by Jon Reischl showing at Nicademus Art

A solo exhibition at Nicademus Art, "An Evening of the Odds" features the work of Hyacinth Avenue artist Jon Reischl.

Using layered imagery, Reischl examines how humans process visual information and construct and organize memory. Thematically, Reischl's work explores the role of Creator by offering up the interpretive reigns to his audience. And in in the case of his Variable Title paintings, blatantly encouraging them to physically interact with the pieces.

The show's title, An Evening of the Odds, is a glib multi-entendre consistent with Reischl's fondness for wordplay, but also suggestive of the sense of resigned struggle present in much of his work.

His subjects often seem to be, in one way or another, at odds with their surroundings, yet also at relative ease, as if to imply that there is contentment to be found amongst the chaos.

The opening reception is March 6 from 7 - 11:00 p.m. with special musical guests The Pines. Nicademus Art and Framing is at 225 N. Snelling Ave.,, 651.207.8322.
