Christmas all year long

We read about the true meaning of Christmas. We are reminded in church what Christmas is all about. Sometimes we are reminded that Christmas should be a birthday party not a shopping spree. If we think of the most significant person in our family; how much do we spend on them? We probably have never heard of anyone extending their credit to the limit for mom, dad, son or daughter.

Come to think about it, most of us may forget that the Christmas celebration is really a birthday party. He wants us to celebrate by putting Him at the center of all our good times together. He is pleased when we show love to our families, friends and neighbors in His name. He is pleased when we give gifts in His name to the Salvation Army, The Union Gospel Mission, the local food shelf or some other charity that cares for His needy and hurting ones.

We can extend His birthday party by talking with Him several times a day. We can extend his birthday party by inviting Him to be our best friend. He can be and wants to be our best friend 24/7. He has everything already except our love and friendship. Let's make 2011 the best year ever by celebrating His birthday and friendship everyday and all year long.

For the 2011 Club, Jan. 2 takes us to Genesis 5 and Matthew 2.

Let's have a good year also by reading His biography through in 2011.
