Chamber choir reflects on Mary

At 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, the St. Paul Vocal Forum, a chamber choir under the direction of Karin Barrett, will present "Reflecting Mary: A Choral Midrash" at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, 1660 West County Road B in Roseville.

The choir's selections present a series of reflections on the life of Mary, the young Jewish woman whose "yes" changed the world. They include the stunning "Magnificat" by Arvo Pärt, a fantasia on "Lo How a Rose E'er Blooming" by Hugo Distler, and more. St. Anthony Park Lutheran Church organist Ann Braaten accompanies the choir.

Guests are asked to contribute donations of hats and mittens for The Mary Hall Supportive Housing Program in St. Paul. This program helps single homeless adults transition successfully to permanent, stable housing.

Admission is free, though contributions to the SPVF will be accepted.
