CA fastpitch takes on St. Croix Lutheran Saturday
With a victory in its playoff opener on Thursday, the Concordia Academy fastpitch softball earned a rematch against a Tri-Metro Conference foe.
The Beacons, seeded fifth in Section 4AA, travel to fourth-seeded St. Croix Lutheran on Saturday at 1 p.m. for a second-round match-up. Concordia (12-9) dropped a 5-2 decision to the Crusaders back on May 8 and would like nothing more than to send them packing this weekend.
In order to get another shot at St. Croix Lutheran (12-5), Concordia first needed to take care of business in the first round against 12th-seeded St. Paul Central. The Beacons topped Central 8-1 behind a strong pitching performance from Kayleigh Sellner.
Sellner struck out nine while giving up just one run on three hits.
Sellner also chipped in at the plate with a hit and two runs scored. Kayla Leistikow added a double and an RBI while Claire Heilman went 3-for-4.
