'This is What Progress Feels Like' exhibit at Metropolitan State on display Apr. 24 - Jul 24
Metropolitan State University Gordon Parks Gallery opens its next exhibit, “This is What Progress Feels Like,” with a reception on Thursday, April 24, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The artist will present a gallery talk from 6:30 to 7 p.m.
The exhibit continues through July 24. Gallery hours are Mondays through Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Fridays and Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be no Friday hours during the summer months. The gallery is located in the Library and Learning Center, 645 East Seventh St., St. Paul.
The exhibit features the sculptural work of Elizabeth Garvey, Saint Paul. Garvey’s work combines found objects and natural materials into mixed media assemblages that explore relationships between work, nature, and the self. This collection of objects examines how our view of the world changes when one’s daily labor is generated from the office rather than the earth.
