With only one senior and little experience on the roster this spring, the North High School boys tennis team is likely to struggle. Head coach Jerry Diebel isn’t worried so much about wins and losses as he is about the psyche of his players.
Last year’s Tartan High School fastpitch softball team more than doubled its win total from the previous season. The Titans appear to have the personnel this season to produce another increase in victories.
The North High School boys track and field team has long been a power in the Metro East Conference. The Polars have won the conference team title 11 times in a row and have their sights set on No. 12 this spring.

Dustin Weinmann worked his way up the ladder as a high school wrestler at Irondale High School and capped his prep career with a state championship.
A pair of University of St. Thomas seniors closed out their college basketball careers with the ultimate prize. Jimmy Remke and Cullen Ogren helped the Tommies capture the NCAA Division III national title on March 19 in Salem, Virginia.
Hannah Brandt said she couldn’t imagine closing out her college career anywhere but at the Frozen Four. She and her University of Minnesota women’s hockey teammates made the trip to New Hampshire worthwhile.
