Railroad quiet zones expected to be complete in June

Some two years after the Legislature set aside $2 million to create railroad quiet zones in Little Canada and Shoreview, the loud train whistles that disturbed so many residents may finally fall silent in June.

That’s according to a quiet zone news update posted to the Little Canada city website April 18, which said railroad construction necessary for the zones being carried out by Canadian Pacific Railway was nearly complete.

County shows off plan for new Rice Street bridge at I-694

If funding is secured, construction would begin in 2018

As work begins to widen the Interstate 694 corridor through Shoreview, Ramsey County is visiting cities on the work’s eastern edge to shore up support for designs of a new Rice Street bridge over the interstate.

The county presented plans for the bridge at the April 13 Little Canada City Council meeting.

A New Brighton company is fielding another path for it, but to make it work, the company’s two young business partners are first wading through the waters of passing new legislation at the state Capitol.

Two 18-year-olds rob peer in St. Anthony, allegedly at gunpoint

St. Anthony Village police responded to the report of an armed robbery the evening of March 29, after a young man was allegedly held at gunpoint by two 18-year-old male acquaintances inside their car.
