Ramsey County Parks and Recreation announced Wednesday, July 29, that two of its beaches are closed because of high levels of E. coli bacteria found in lake water during testing on July 28.
The swimming beaches at Long Lake Regional Park in New Brighton and Tony Schmidt Regional Park -- Lake Johanna -- in Arden Hills, are closed and unguarded until further notice, according to the county.
“Light our fire” was the theme of this year's Slice of Shoreview which featured firework displays on two nights. A variety of activities attracted people of all ages to this fun summer event!

City ponders local elections changes
New Brighton's polling places are set for the city’s voters this fall.
The New Brighton City Council approved the city's new Precinct 8 polling place at Sunny Square Park Neighborhood Center during its July 14 council meeting.
The council approved a reconfigured precinct map in March that added three precincts and caused the relocation of many residents to new polling places.

Construction on Shoreview's largest single investment may have started several weeks ago, but that didn’t stop city council members from doing a little bit of digging at the project's site to mark its start.
