New Brighton approves road salt storage facility, with restrictions

Plans for a road salt storage and distribution operation in northeast New Brighton were approved in modified form by the city council May 26.
The project had drawn scrutiny from residents and elected officials alike, who questioned how the salt would be hauled and housed in order to prevent spills.

The days are warm and the pools are full-it's beach season again! Lifeguard watches have begun at Ramsey County's five guarded swimming beaches. Battle Creek Waterworks family water park will also open for the season.

Meanwhile, owner sells 393 Bates to new buyer for $525,000 About 20 feet from the front steps of the odd house at 393 Bates Avenue, cars will soon be parking on the third level of Metropolitan State University’s new parking ramp. The one-story adobe home, with its symmetrical facade, is the only holdout on a square-block development project the university is doing. The construction project includes a new student center as well as a large parking ramp, which will replace what was previously a surface-level parking lot in the same location.
