Softball: Polars dominate Titans, 5-0

Schanks has 10 strikeouts in 2-hit shutout
It took four innings for the North High softball players to get unwound, but when they did the put five runs on the board and downed the Tartan Titans by a 5-0 count on Monday, April 21.
Leading the North in battle was senior pitcher Haley Schanks. She allowed the visiting Titans just two hits while striking out 10. At the plate she went 2-for-3 - both singles - and running bases for her was Georgie Robasse, who scored two runs.

Boys tennis: Titans heading into season short handed in doubles play

As the boys tennis season nears the halfway mark of this unusually cold spring, the Tartan High School team has felt the sting of still looking for its first win.
“We are struggling right now,” stated coach Larry Fronczak. “We are limited in experience at our doubles play.”

Boys basketball: Tartan holds annual boys basketball awards

On March 27, the Tartan boys basketball team gathered one more time to celebrate a very successful season.
In addition to varsity cagers celebrating their 23-7 record, Section 4AAAA championship and brief trip to the 2014 state tournament, the Tartan JV team, the “B” squad and the freshman teams were in attendance to receive awards.

The Tartan Titans and the Hopkins Royals were still rubbing sleep out of their eyes when they tipped the ball at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, in the opening game of the 2013 Minnesota State Class AAAA Boys Basketball Tournament at Target Center.

Tartan heads to state tournament
In the Section 4 AAAA boys basketball finals March 5, the No.1-seeded Woodbury Royals met No. 3-seeded Tartan Titans played a torrid, hotly-contested game at East Ridge High School. The Tartan five jumped to an early lead and, despite stiff opposition, never relinquished it. The Titans' stifling defense shut off an almost equally stubborn Woodbury offense to secure a hard-fought 90-78 triumph.
The victory over the Royals won the Titans a trip to the Class AAAA boys State Tournament, which begins March 12 at the Target Center in downtown Minneapolis.

Wrestling: Tartan wrestles in state Class AAA tournament

The Tartan High School Titans won the Section 4AAA wrestling title in dramatic fashion to qualify as a team for the Minnesota Class AAA State Wrestling Tournament
In their first match Thursday, Feb. 27, at the Xcel Center in St. Paul, Tartan ran into third-ranked Prior Lake, and the Lakers won convincingly by a score of 57-13.

Wrestling: Tartan gains ‘State’ with Section 4AAA grappling title

In the Section 4AAA wrestling matches, held at Woodbury High School Feb. 15, the Tartan High School Titans went into the day as underdogs.
As the mats were being rolled up and the Titans were boarding the bus to head home, they had spent the day living up to their name and were riding high as the 2014 Section 4AAA champions.   
For only the second time in the history of the Oakdale institution, Tartan was heading to the Minnesota State Class AAA Wrestling Tournament as a section champion.
