Football: Tartan and North win while Hill-Murray goes down at Sibley

As week five of the fall football season wrapped up, Tartan gained a victory over non-conference foe Fridley. North traveled to Hastings and came away with a three-point win. Hill-Murray ventured to West St. Paul to face Henry Sibley and took it on the chin by a touchdown.

Week five of the 2014 football season proved to be less than fruitful for area teams. Homecoming festivities at both Hill-Murray and North High were dampened by losses Friday, Sept. 26.

Volleyball: North stops Tartan in three to maintain unblemished record

The North High Polars weren’t mentioning it, but going into their volleyball match with the Tartan Titans Tuesday, Sept. 23 at the Hal Norgard Gymnasium, they had an overall mark of 12-0 and were 4-0 in Metro East Conference action.
When the dust had settled following the match with Tartan, the Polars remained unbeaten.

Football: Mahtomedi stops Polars - Hill-Murray halts St. Tomas Cadets - Tartan falls to Sibley

The local football teams were all on the road for games Friday, Sept. 19.

North High traveled to Mahtomedi and took it on the chin 33-18, and Tartan was at Henry Sibley and lost 14-8.

In the opening of the Metro East Conference volleyball season, the newest member -- the Hastings Raiders -- didn't waste much time serving notice that there was now another powerhouse in the mix.

Girls tennis: Tartan facing a rebuilding year

The Tartan High School girls tennis forces have already begun the season and are feeling some growing pains.
Tartan veteran coach Larry Fronczak said, “We have many new players who have not had any varsity playing experience.”

Football: Pioneers stop Polars, 36-18

As the high school football teams wrapped up the second games of the 2014 season, the visiting Hill-Murray Pioneers took control Friday night to defeat North in a high-scoring contest.
Tartan was on the road at St. Thomas Academy, and the Cadets quickly discovered they were able to march right through the Titans’ defense.
