U.S. News ranks St. Anthony Village High School third in state

U.S. News and World Report ranked St. Anthony Village High School (SAVHS) the third best in the state in its recently released 2013 Best High Schools report.  
U.S. News analyzed data from more than 21,000 public high schools from across the country to determine its rankings.

Local legislators weigh in on marriage bill

On an unseasonably hot afternoon last Tuesday, Gov. Mark Dayton signed an historic bill legalizing same-sex marriage in front of thousands of cheering Minnesotans watching from the Capitol grounds.
Just days before Dayton signed the marriage equality bill, state legislators passed it in a 75-59 vote in the Minnesota House after a two-hour debate on Thursday, May 9.
On Monday, May 13, the same bill passed in the Minnesota Senate 37-30 after several hours of debate.

Body of Kira Steger found in Mississippi River

Updated -- A body that was pulled from the Mississippi River near Robert Street in St. Paul on Wednesday, May 8, has been identified as Kira Steger (Trevino), 30.
A resident who works in the area saw the body floating in the river and notified police at about 1:30 p.m. May 8. The St. Paul Fire Department responded by boat and removed the heavily decomposed corpse from between two barges.
