Manufacturers to be located elsewhere
When Minnesota became one of 23 states nationwide to legalize the production, sale and use of medical cannabis with the final passage of a bill this past spring, it created some uncharted legal territory for local cities.
Vadnais Heights reacted to this terra incognita by placing a one year moratorium on the establishment of medical cannabis manufacture and distribution in the city at its Nov. 19 meeting.

A stretch of Interstate 694 in Shoreview is set to be widened in about a year's time, and the Minnesota Department of Transportation will hold an open house Dec. 4 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. to discuss the plan at Shoreview City Hall in the council chambers.

A Vadnais Heights-based meat processing company is recalling more than a half-ton of meat that may be contaminated by E. coli bacteria, according to a Nov. 22 release from the Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service.

Ramsey County installs new signals to help with red light enforcement
Small blue lights are showing up on the sides of traffic signals throughout Ramsey County offering police a safer way to enforce red lights and in turn, reduce accidents.
In total, 128 blue lights will be installed at 49 intersections, according to a Ramsey County release.

At a New Brighton city council meeting delayed a day for observance of Veterans Day, members of the Tri-City American Legion Post 513 and the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 724 presented a POW/MIA flag to the council Nov. 12.
Mayor Dave Jacobsen read a city proclamation thanking all veterans.
In 2010, the Roseville Parks and Recreation Department completed a parks system master plan, which includes acquiring a 3.32-acre parcel of land just south of Autumn Grove Park on Hamline Avenue. The vacant lot is owned by the Mounds View School District, and could be used for "court sports," including baseball, volleyball, pickleball or soccer, according to Parks and Recreation director Lonnie Brokke. Former contaminated site to become a park
A three-acre piece of land in Roseville with a storied background as a dairy farm, construction company, printing press, school district center and contaminated brownfield will soon become a city park.
The Roseville City Council approved a purchase agreement with the Mounds View School District for a 3.32-acre property at its Nov. 10 meeting. The council plans to use the site, located at 2959 Hamline Ave., to augment Autumn Grove Park, which is just north of the property that once housed the school district's administrative center. The city entered into the purchase agreement in April, and has been conducting its due diligence period since.
