The primary idea behind farmer’s markets is that they’re local — locally produced foods, grown and sold by local farmers, purchased and eaten by local residents.

South St. Paul kids repurpose school supplies
An unofficial but rather organized group of young South St. Paul volunteers has proven that slightly shorter pencils (sometimes riddled with bite marks) still have a place in this world.
So do graphite-stained plastic pencil cases and their familiar companions: misshapen erasers, crayon-smudged scissors, and half-used glue sticks.
According to South St. Paul school board member Lauri Flatley, these used items and many other school supplies deserve a second look.
