Wilshire Park creative kids improvise their way to Knoxville

The Bobbidy Bop Bop Bops, Wilshire Park Elementary’s dreamers of dreams and Destination Imagination (DI) team, has advanced to the Destination Imagination Global 2014 Finals in Knoxville, Tennessee.
The team, made up of four boys and two girls, all fourth and fifth graders, will travel to Knoxville May 21-24. Susan Boatman, Wilshire Park’s DI adviser, said this will be the third time a team from the elementary school has made it to the global finals, most recently in 2012.

According to U.S. News and World Report, the news organization that often ranks schools and universities across the country, only three other high schools in the state rank better than St. Anthony Village High School.

SAVHS students “sleep out” for homeless youth

Nearly 50 St. Anthony Village High School students participated in a “sleep out” Friday, March 28, to raise awareness of homelessness in the local area and to raise money for the cause.

District 621 School Board approves contract with paraprofessional union

The Mounds View School Board approved the proposed contract between the district and the Paraprofessional Union of School Services Employees, Local 282 at its Tuesday, March 11 board meeting.
Amy Jo Johnson, District 621 employee relations and benefits manager, said the district had met with union members on seven separate occasions and she recommended that the board approve the contract as ratified by the paraprofessional union on Feb. 27.

The Bush Fellowship is designed for people who have already demonstrated exceptional leadership abilities, but who feel they could accomplish even more for their community with focused, intensive leadership development.
