Legion baseball: 39ers drop final regular season contest to Mahtomedi

The North St. Paul American Legion Post 39 traveled to Mahtomedi for a nine-inning baseball game July 20 that ended the 39ers’ regular season before the playoffs. 
The “home” team, the Willernie Post 507 Meteors handed the visiting 39ers an 8-4 setback. 
The Meteors used a 7-run sixth inning to cause most of the damage.

39ers post an even dozen against Tri-City Maroons

The Tri-City Maroons came to Kuenkel Field July 18 to make up an earlier scheduled contest. They may now wish they hadn’t.
A good, close contest was suddenly interrupted in the last of the sixth when the 39ers put 12 runs across the plate.
The head-spinning baserunning ended the game with North St. Paul on top of a 14-4 count.

Legion baseball:  Mapleleafs stymie 39ers — Glomb hurls 5-hit, 11 K gem

The North St. Paul Post 39 American Legion baseball nine’s venture south didn’t sound too hazardous; after all, they were only headed to the nearby Hill-Murray baseball field July 17.
But the 3M Post 599 Mapleleafs they met there seemed to be playing a game a world apart. 
What put the game firmly in an unreachable league: Mapleleafs fireballing pitcher Lucas Glomb.

Legion Baseball: 39ers open Gopher Classic Tournament with 4 straight victories

The North St. Paul Post 39 baseball nine opened play in the 2013 Jim Hanus Memorial Gopher Classic Tournament July 12 against Giant Valley (Minneapolis) Post 234 in a game at Ralph Kuenkel Field in North St. Paul.
The Giant Valley club is made up mostly of Minnehaha Academy players.
In an exciting finish, the 39ers gained a first-round triumph with a bottom-of-the-eighth-inning run that gave the locals a 6-5 win over their adversaries from Minneapolis.

July 10, at their home Kuenkel Field, the North St. Paul Post 39 used their bats and their feet to paddle away from the White Bear Lake Lakers 6-3.
In gaining the win the 39ers moved their season mark to 10-4 in league play and to 14-9 overall.
Leading the assault on the Lakers was A.J. Hunt, who cracked a pair of doubles and scored twice. He hit two other balls that were corralled deep in the White Bear Lake outfield.

Legion baseball: 39ers find success at Alexandria Tourney

The North St. Paul Post 39 baseball nine, playing in the Alexandria July 4 Annual Baseball Tournament, got off to a fast start when they met the Becker Post 193 Bombers in the opening game. 
The 39ers emptied the Bombers’ bomb bay with a 9-1 victory. 
North St. Paul wasted no time putting the eventual game-winning run on the board in the bottom of inning number one. 
After Becker went down in order in the upper first, Corky Hildebrandt sent a shot to left field to lead off the 39ers’ assault.

Legion baseball: 39ers exploit White Bear Lake in District IV baseball

In a game best termed “non-exciting” the North St. Paul Post 39 baseball nine took the measure of the White Bear Lake Lakers 8-2 on the Lakers’ home field July 3. 
“We got a few things done tonight,” stated North St. Paul manager Ron Adams. “We hit the ball and we ran the bases well. In several of the innings we had the first guy up get on base. We got some steady pitching and were able to take advantage of a few of their mistakes. It was a good game for us. we’re making some progress.”

Legion baseball: 39ers run rough shod over Eastsiders

The North St. Paul Post 39 baseball team began the month of July with a “bang” when they visited the Arcade-Phalen Post 577 July 2, for a District IV clash held at Johnson High School. 
“It was a good game for us,” understated 39ers head coach Ron Adams. “We were able to take advantage of some of their weaknesses. We got everyone in the game and gained some experience that way. We hit the ball and took advantage of our opportunities. We have to be happy with the outcome.”
