Man allegedly exposes himself at downtown North St. Paul bookstore

Police investigation underway
Shortly before 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, a man bolted out of the Paperbacks Plus bookstore, 2539 E. Seventh Ave., North St. Paul, with two women on his heels.
The man had allegedly exposed himself to a customer inside the store. She reported the incident to the owner, who, accompanied by another customer, took off after him in an attempt to keep tabs on him until police were contacted.

Sleeping woman awakens to blows in Oakdale home
An Oakdale man who attacked his wife with a hammer while she was sleeping last fall pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted murder — the most serious charge against him — in Washington County District Court Monday, Aug. 17.
Prosecuting attorney Siv Yurichuk said it was a "straight plea," meaning there will be no sentencing agreement for 32-year-old Brian Thomas Henjum.

Woman killed in Maplewood Sunday morning

Police name suspect: Todd Larry Tennin
At 6 a.m. Sunday, gunfire at the Trails Edge Townhomes in Maplewood claimed the life of 41-year-old April Marie Tennin, a mother of three.
Police reports initially called the death "suspicious" and said "a man believed to have been with the adult female shooting victim at the time ... is being sought for questioning as a person of interest."

Gun pulled in Maplewood bar

Police need help identifying suspect
Maplewood police are trying to identify a male suspect who pulled out a gun at Bleecher's Bar on the evening of Friday, July 24, and pointed it at patrons as he exited the establishment.
A little before 11 p.m., Maplewood police officers were called to the bar at 2220 White Bear Ave. N., on the report of an armed assault.

Fatal shooting at Stargate in Maplewood

Police say victim appears to have been aggressor
The Maplewood Police Department and the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are investigating a fatal shooting outside the Stargate nightclub in the early hours of Friday morning.
They have identified the victim as Chou "Tony" Yang, 20, of St. Paul.
A call came in at 12:52 a.m. that there had been a shooting outside the club, which is located at 1700 Rice St. in the Crown Plaza retail center.
Emergency responders found a man with a gunshot injury in the parking lot and transported him to Regions Medical Center, where he later died.
