Oakdale indoor market


On January 21, the Oakdale Indoor Market was held at the Discovery Center, 4444 Hadley Ave. N. A variety of items were for sale including seasoned nuts, strudels, canned goods, candles, crafts, baked goods, sausages, pierogies, coffee, honey and children’s books.

It’s harvest time

Crews were out at Lake Phalen Beach on Saturday, Jan. 21, cutting ice blocks to be used for the Winter Carnival. The blocks were hauled to downtown St. Paul’s Rice Park to construct the Towers of Boreas.

Dog days of winter

Just ahead of the thaw, Lauderdale’s off-leash dog park was busy with people and pups enjoying the outdoors on Jan. 14. The dog park is located in the northeast corner of Community Park, 1885 Fulham St., and is open daily from 8 a.m.

A kingdom of ice

People don’t have to drive to Stillwater to see an ice castle. Mark Williams built an ice castle made out of roughly 2,000 blocks of ice in his Inver Grove Heights yard. He said it held up pretty well until the heat wave hit.
