Oakdale book club to explore American history

Participants sought for two-year journey of learning
History buffs in the east metro will have a unique opportunity to explore American history from pre-colonial times to the present as part of a new book club.
The Oakdale Library is forming an American history book club that will embark on a two-year quest to answer: "How did the United States develop into the country that we live today?"

Oakdale candidates talk issues with business community
Last week, the Oakdale Business and Professional Association hosted its annual Eggs 'n Issues breakfast at Oak Marsh Golf Course. The OBPA has hosted council and county board forums in the past, but this is the first year the OBPA has hosted a mayoral forum, moderator Marc Cove of Platinum Bank said.

Donations needed as crisis continues to worsen  It's hard to ignore the headlines coming out of West Africa announcing the latest death toll from what has become the deadliest Ebola outbreak in history. Most Americans first heard about it in July, when a U.S. doctor and another aid worker contracted the virus and later recovered on American soil with the help of an experimental drug known as ZMapp.
