An end of an era looms for the 452-acre Tartan Park recreational area in Lake Elmo. 

3M Co. has owned the scenic property since 1958 and first opened the 27-hole golf course to its employees in 1963.

Lake Elmo residents have watched with envy for years as farmer’s markets have sprouted up in neighboring communities -- Stillwater, Woodbury and Oakdale to name a few -- leaving many pondering, “Why not Lake Elmo?”

Increased demand for new housing stock in Washington County

A deluge of retiring baby boomers and an improving economy has created a demand for a new type of housing stock in the east metro and across the nation, which has some builders eager to cash in and struggling to keep up.
Oakdale’s Cardinal Place is among the newest of proposed housing developments geared toward empty nesters and retirees to get a green light in the Washington County suburbs.
