How and why Oakdale’s water treatment plant works


The lead and lag tanks at the Oakdale water treatment plant provide a two-step water filtration system. Both tanks are filled up with granular activated carbon, which absorbs perfluorooctane sulfonate and perfluorooctanoic acid, two synthetic chemicals formerly used by 3M Company. Lake Elmo Bank employees were treated to winning bagels — compliments of First State Bank & Trust in Bayport. This 4th annual friendly competition  between the two community banks during food drive month raised a combined total of $21,511.
