The storm caused flooding and damage across the Twin Cities, including Maplewood where this black locust fell in a resident’s yard.

Cleanup following a storm can be an overwhelming task for homeowners. Knowing which trees to save and which to remove can impact safety and the survival of remaining trees, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

As residents returned from the holiday weekend, many came home to a doozy of a storm on Tuesday evening, July 5. The National Weather Service had recorded wind gusts up to 75 miles per hour and about 250,000 Xcel Energy customers lost power.
