Letter: Transportation funding

As a participant in the Transportation Day at the Capitol, I advocated for a more comprehensive and sustainable transportation funding package that fully addresses the needs of the state’s transportation infrastructure. Transportation is essential to creating opportunities for families and businesses across Minnesota. Investments in transportation will make Minnesota more economically competitive by increasing access to high-paying jobs and attracting employers to strengthen our economy.

Letter: Supports organized trash collection

I encourage the City of Roseville to move forward with an organized trash collection system. Recently the city signed a contract that expanded the number of materials we can recycle. Moving forward to an organized trash collection system would mean amongst other benefits, our trash would also have value as a resource for generating energy.

Letter: Minnesota’s transportation problem

Minnesota has a transportation problem. The cost of maintaining the current system is increasing faster than available funding, making it difficult for Minnesotans to get to their destination. That’s why I recently participated in the Transportation Day at the Capitol, to show legislators there’s broad support for improving Minnesota’s transportation infrastructure through a more comprehensive and sustainable funding package.

Letter: Don’t use taxpayer money for noise studies

I can sympathize with folks who lose sleep to outside noises; I am in my sixties and a good night’s rest is a requirement. However, I do not have sympathy with folks who buy homes by ports (my hometown is Duluth), airports, or trains and then complain about the noise.

I write this letter to inform Roseville residents of the positions of the League of Women Voters of Roseville/Maplewood/Falcon Heights (RoMaFH) on trash hauling. I have been a resident of Roseville since 1961 and member of the LWV RoMaFH for 48 years.

As someone, who over the past five years, has been involved in and studied the pros and cons of Roseville moving to organized trash collection I have the following reflections:

Letter: Organized trash collection survey

During the first week of December I purchased a one quarter page ad in this paper with a survey return regarding the city of Roseville’s proposal for an organized trash collection operated by the city. Although the city proposed 8 benefits to be gained by this organized trash proposal, I posed the most important question on this issue that must be considered by the citizens of Roseville, that being whether or not we want to give our right and freedom to choose with whom we can do business with at our home site. In its proposal, the City would mandate who you would do business with at your home for your trash collection.

Letter: Hope issue will be raised at forum

Having tutored immigrants in the Roseville and other public school systems in the Twin Cities, when the City of Roseville holds a forum on immigrants Jan. 15 7 p.m. City Hall the primary question in my mind will be: are immigrants learning English fast enough and comprehensively enough to translate their usual good brains and work ethics into becoming productive citizens and is our public school system giving them the English instruction they need?
