Letter: Congratulations!

To the Editor:

I was very happy with the results Maplewood electing two very competent new City Council Members, Bryan Smith and Tou Xiong. I am sure they will be a good addition. As usual, I am sorry we did not have a better turn out to vote, so if you didn’t vote don’t complain

Letter: Lake Elmo Council

To the Editor:

I watched the Council meeting of Nov. 17. After this meeting I learned Lake Elmo has hired a parliamentarian. Did the residents have any knowledge of this “new” person and the money it is costing Lake Elmo? The mayor does not have any authority. By the way, I think he has done a fantastic job and has more patience than most people given most of the council members he has to work with. “

Letter: 622 No’s Know

To the Editor:

Fifty-nine percent of voters believe that the current annual budget of $10 million to $12 million is sufficient. The system is seriously flawed. The correction needs to start by reinstituting discipline. Additional classroom funding should come from slashing the glut of administration, whose focus is on socialization not education.

Letter: Deeply disappointed in 622 levy results

To the Editor:

We are two of the many deeply disappointed parents of the Nov. 3 outcome not to increase levy funding for School District 622. Our three bright, tenacious learners attend Carver Elementary, a school celebrating student diversity, community feel, passionate teachers, and academic performance.

Letter: On being slowly crushed…

To the Editor:

ISD 622 voters just denied another levy request from the school district, and we remain at the absolute bottom of the barrel among metro districts for funding…  I’ve been giving everything I’ve got to North High for over 20 years.

Letter: Setting the record straight

To the Editor:

Regarding the “Sticky Subject” referred to in the Wed., Nov. 11 article “Voters elect two new faces for city council,” my campaign did not make an issue of Mr. Xiong or Mr. Smith not being homeowners.  As a neighborhood attorney, I serve lower to middle income individuals with 70 percent of my clientele falling into a category of being elderly, a minority, a renter, or having limited financial resources.

Letter: Failed 622 levy a disappointment

To the Editor:

Our family is incredibly upset that the referendum did not pass. This past week Amy Ledoux emphasized what many families of school-aged children feel.
District 622 is the lowest funded district of the top 20 districts in the Twin Cities, per student. We almost did not move to Oakdale this summer because of the school district. We came from a house in Woodbury.

Letter: We voted ‘yes’

To the Editor:
Like many district 622 parents, I watched the poll results in the evening of November 3.  Earlier in the day, my husband and I took our two young boys (aged 2 and 4) with us to our polling station.  We voted “yes” not only for our children but also for our entire community.

Letter: Candidate endorsement

To the Editor:
I would like to encourage the voters of Maplewood to re-elect Bob Cardinal for another four-year term on the City Council. Bob is very active in the community and serves on many boards. He represents the city very well.

Letter: Dispelling rumors

To the Editor:
As recently reported in the Review, Maplewood City Council has authorized us to leave the Ramsey –Washington Suburban Cable Commission. I would like to focus on the facts about what this means to cable subscribers in Maplewood.
