Through the years I have gone to my polling place near my home and have seen many of the same warm, friendly individuals staffing as volunteers. This year was no different. I however didn't come to the polling place alone but instead brought my son with me, who turned 18 a week earlier. He was reluctant to go, but was firmly encouraged by my wife who sold it as a rite of passage that would give his father a real sense of pride.
To the voters in the St. Anthony-New Brighton School District, thank you for approving both referendum questions in the November 4, 2014 General Election! We are grateful for continued community support as it allows our schools to remain focused on our mission: to educate, prepare, and inspire a community of lifelong learners in our small, caring environment.
I am writing to correct a statement made by a writer in a letter to the editor published October 29, 2014 ("Vote no"). In that letter, the writer stated, "Employees at the school are more than amply compensated.
After attending the recent forum for Vadnais Heights Mayor and City Council candidates and reading candidates’ responses to questions posed by the Shoreview Bulletin, we are especially impressed with the professionalism, forward-thinking, and responsiveness to citizens’ needs demonstrated by Mayor Marc Johannsen.
