Letter: Against rodeos

I dread seeing the ads in the area papers announcing the “World’s Toughest Rodeo” in St. Paul in late January.  These “tough cowboys” will be jumping on the backs of unwilling horses, bulls, steers; all this cruel activity for money prizes. The used animals win no prizes and deserve their freedom.I dread seeing the ads in the area papers announcing the “World’s Toughest Rodeo” in St. Paul in late January.  These “tough cowboys” will be jumping on the backs of unwilling horses, bulls, steers; all this cruel activity for money prizes. Letter: Opposes addition of franchise fees in Arden Hills

In 2011, Arden Hills Councilmembers David Grant, Brenda Holden, and Fran Holmes wanted higher sales taxes to pay for Zygy Wilf’s Vikings stadium.
Now, they want utility taxes. There isn’t a tax they don’t like. Only Ed Werner is opposed. Taxes on essential services are addictive and can be increased at will.

Letter: giving credit

The Yarusso thruway and the Scalze overpass are now open for traffic. I refer, of course, to Highway 10 between 35W and 694.
While I use a little levity, I am serious about giving credit to our State Rep Barb Yarusso and State Senator Bev Scalze and their DFL colleagues as well Governor Dayton for getting this and other projects done.

Letter: 'The Millenial Generation'

The Millenial Generation is of the most educated generations in American history. It should be that the Millenials are of the most successful.
However, my generation is the first generation to be worse off than its parents since the Greatest Generation. There are countless reasons for this: the economic collapses, the lack of interpersonal communication skills, or the outsourcing of manufacturing jobs. However, I will discuss the Catch 22 my generation faces.

Letter: Support for Graeme Allen, Mary Kunesh-Podein, Mary Burg

I have been heavily involved in politics for over 40 years. I have volunteered on numerous campaigns over those years and I know a well rounded candidate when I see one. Graeme Allen is one of those candidates and would be a great city council member!
