Letter: Concerned citizen

The world is changing. Will New Brighton change with it? I have lived in New Brighton 6 years. In the last few, I have had the honor of meeting amazing people. The New Brighton I know is full of hard workers, teachers, farmers, librarians, chicken owners, police officers, church-goers, rooster keepers, republicans, democrats, bee keepers, gay people, straight people, and differently-abled people.

Letter: Supports “yes” vote for levy

At our annual fall picnic, it was nice to meet three new families who recently moved into the neighborhood and filled homes left by empty nesters.  The young parents said the high quality of the Mounds View Public Schools was certainly a factor in their home search and selection.

Letter: Continue supporting schools

As a community member, I believe a strong school district is critical to a community’s health. When our kids and schools do well, our communities are strong and vibrant.

Letter: Pleased with road construction

I can’t think of a time I’ve been more pleased to see road construction. So many projects -- some that have felt long overdue -- are being addressed in our region. Be sure to thank our elected officials for allocating the necessary funds, and the work crews for their substantial efforts.

Letter: Militarized America

“In the councils of government we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence…by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes.” (By WWII hero and President Dwight Eisenhower.) His fears have been realized. The most recent documentation is the film “Dirty Wars,” showing America’s global reach in a war without end: Orwell”s “1984” brought to life.
