People still ask, 'Who is Ruth?'
For quite a while, I have ended my columns with "Hey Ruth, you hang in there!"
I don't intend to stop, but now an explanation is once again in order.
The "Ruth" in question was Ruth Goethel. She was the wife of Arno Goethel, the former executive sports editor of the St. Paul Dispatch and Pioneer Press.
Trude (Hybsa) McFarland was 109 years on July 2. She celebrated her birthday with family, friends and staff at her apartment in Brightondale Assisted Living Campus, New Brighton. Trude has two children; daughter, Joan (Jack) Scovil of St.
Frank B. Kellogg will be holding an all school reunion on July 26, at the John Rose Oval in Roseville. This reunion is for anyone who attended Kellogg during its operating years of 1965-1986, including faculty and staff.
Paul Dennis Lofgren, 48, of Mesa, Ariz, formerly of St. Anthony Village, passed away at home on June 22. Paul was born on April 28, 1966 in Minneapolis, the son of Dennis H. and Ann Rae (Davis) Lofgren.
Sara Ann Groetsch, North St. Paul resident, passed away peacefully on June 7 at St. Joseph Hospital, St Paul. Sara was born Jan. 13, 1939 in St. Peter, Minn., to Byron and Grace Briggs, both whom preceded her to heaven.
Asher Johathan Bakke was born May 19 at 5:54 p.m. He weighed 7 pounds 9 ounces and was 19 inches long. Welcoming him are his parents, Dan and Kim Bakke of Chicago and sisters, Evie, almost 4, and Cate, 2.
