The weekend didn’t start off all that great for the Mounds View/Irondale/Roseville PI division adapted soccer team but things turned around eventually. The Rams shrugged off an opening-round loss to earn the state consolation championship.
The high school girls hockey season got going last week and Irondale/St. Anthony opened the campaign by jumping right into conference action. The Knights hosted Andover on the afternoon of Nov. 12 and suffered a 6-1 defeat.
The fourth-place finish posted by the Mounds View High School boys cross country team at the state meet last weekend was the fifth-best in the history of the program. It was also the Mustangs’ best performance at state in 17 years.
The four highest-seeded teams in the Section 5AA boys soccer tournament all hosted quarterfinal matches on Saturday. The home-field advantage was not there, however, as all four top seeds lost one-goal contests.
