Behind the shutout goaltending of Tartan’s Michael Hughes, the Titans made a first-period goal stand up for a boys hockey win against South St. Paul to open Metro East Conference action.

As week five of the fall football season wrapped up, Tartan gained a victory over non-conference foe Fridley. North traveled to Hastings and came away with a three-point win. Hill-Murray ventured to West St. Paul to face Henry Sibley and took it on the chin by a touchdown.

Week five of the 2014 football season proved to be less than fruitful for area teams. Homecoming festivities at both Hill-Murray and North High were dampened by losses Friday, Sept. 26.
