The Irondale High School girls track and field team that qualified for state in the 4x400-meter relay in 2015 finished in the bottom half of the standings in the prelims and did not advance to the finals.
Tuesday has been a bit of a tough day to get sporting events in this summer. For the second time this season, a slate of Fourth District American Legion baseball games were wiped out when storms blew the metro area on July 5.
As traditional Fourth District powers, the American Legion baseball teams from New Brighton’s Tri-City Red and North St. Paul’s 39ers are usually in the hunt for the district championship. This summer is no different.
Former Mounds View High School standout Max Knutson recently completed his junior season as a member of the University of Nebraska baseball team. He will not play for the Cornhuskers as a senior, however.
The Mounds View trap team finished 13th out of 20 teams in Class 6A on June 19. The Mounds View High School trap-shooting team recently competed in the state meet at Alexandria Shooting Park in Alexandria. The Mustangs finished 13th out of 20 teams in Class 6A on June 19.
