State tournament notebook
For the second straight year, Target Field was a hospitable host to the Mounds View High School baseball team. The Mustangs have played there twice and are 2-0 on the major league diamond.
This year’s team won the Class AAA state title with a 9-0 victory over Eden Prairie. A year ago, the Mustangs beat Rocori 8-0 to claim the crown.

The formula for the Mounds View High School baseball team this spring has been strong pitching plus solid defense plus timely hitting equals success.
For the second consecutive year, the Mounds View High School boys lacrosse team ventured to Park Center High School for the section final. Unfortunately for the Mustangs, the final result wasn’t any different this time around.
Heading into the state tournament last week, the top-seeded Mounds View High School boys tennis team was expected to have to contend with challenges from Minnetonka and Wayzata in its quest for a state championship.
