Huskies baseball off to strong start

Confidence can be beneficial for a team, but overconfidence can lead to problems. The St. Anthony Village High School baseball team has been able to use the former to its advantage and avoid the latter during its season-opening surge.
The Huskies improved to 6-0 with three victories last week. Two of them came against perennial Tri-Metro Conference contenders.
“We’ve played a good schedule against a lot of good teams,” said St. Anthony head coach Troy Urdahl. “Keep playing the right brand of baseball and hopefully we’ll keep winning games.”

Since 2001, trap shooting has been a club sport in high schools in Minnesota. Growth was slow at first but took off around 2009 and the number of teams and shooters has doubled each year since.
The Mounds View school district got in on the act this spring with teams at both Irondale and Mounds View. It took a few years to get approval, but now there are Knights and Mustangs representing their schools on the gun range.
