Arden Hills

Barking dogs

A caller who lives in the 1400 block of Briarknoll Drive told police the morning of June 18 that dogs in a neighbor’s yard had been out for 24 hours and it was unclear if they had food and water. They’d also been barking in the middle of a night. An animal control officer was sent to follow up.

 

Big turtle

A driver reported a large, perhaps two-foot-wide turtle crossing Snelling Avenue at Arden Oaks Drive from the lake in Arden Oaks Park the afternoon of June 21.

 

Car + motorcycle

Deputies responded to an accident with injures the afternoon of June 20 on County Road F at Lexington Avenue involving a car and a motorcycle. The people involved were a 69-year-old Arden Hills woman and a 57-year-old Coon Rapids man.

 

Scary false alarm

Police received a report of a disorderly employee with a gun at a business in the 1300 block of Grey Fox Road the evening of June 18 though it proved to be a false alarm. The person in question was located at their home and without access to firearms.

 

 

Falcon Heights

Theft from auto

A 33-year-old man told police June 19 that he’d come back from a three-week military deployment to find a rear window on his car smashed as it was parked in the 1700 block of Fry Street. The glove compartment and center console had been rummaged through, though it was unclear if anything was taken.

 

Triple arrest

A deputy stopped a car identified in a KOPS Alert as being involved in the theft of Apple Watches from an AT&T store in Arden Hills the afternoon of June 22 at Larpenteur and Snelling avenues. The car’s three male occupants, an 18-year-old from Minneapolis, a 19-year-old from Apple Valley and a 19-year-old from Shakopee, were all arrested.

 

 

Lauderdale

Recovered vehicle

An officer came upon a vehicle that had been reported as stolen to the University of Minnesota Police Department at Pleasant Street and Larpenteur Avenue June 12. The car was impounded.

 

Scratched profanity

A 51-year-old man told police June 12 he found profanity scratched into the door of his car as it was parked in the 1800 block of Malvern Street.

 

Theft from auto

A 24-year-old man told police June 16 that his wallet, containing his driver’s license and credit cards, was taken from his car as it was parked at Lauderdale Community Park in the 1800 block of Fulham Street

 

 

Little Canada

Assault arrest

Deputies arrested a 50-year-old man the night of June 20 in the 2900 block of Country Drive for assault and forwarded the case to the city attorney for charging.

 

Dumpster fire

When a squad car fire extinguisher wasn’t enough, deputies brought in the Little Canada Fire Department to help put out a dumpster fire that was reported by an observant driver the night of June 17 in the 2400 block of Rice Street.

 

Kitten rescue

Someone told police June 18 that they’d found a cat abandoned in a blue carrier near Gervais Mill Park in he 2700 block of Edgerton Street. The person took it to the Animal Humane Society.

 

‘Old friend’

A 56-year-old man told police June 18 that an “old friend” had taken his car and wallet without permission from the first block of Maple Lane. Cash had been withdrawn from the man’s bank account with his debit card. The car turned up in St. Paul June 24 and police are investigating.

 

Stolen trailer

An enclosed trailer that contained some $7,800 worth of construction materials was reported as stolen June 17 from the 2400 block of Edgerton Street. Roseville PD found it June 23.

 

 

Mounds View

Assault?

Officers the afternoon of June 19 responded to the 2200 block of Kingsway Lane on a report of an assault, but upon arrival learned that the assault apparently took place in St. Paul.

 

 

New Brighton

Face tats and some landscaping

Security footage from the afternoon of June 14 at the Cub Foods in the 2600 block of Rice Creek Road shows a man with facial tattoos loading 20 bags of mulch and some potted plants into the back of his white Chevy Silverado and then drive off without paying. The footage provided a clear shot of his license plate, allowing police to track the vehicle back to a 34-year-old from East Bethel. Police got ahold of the man’s grandmother, who said though she doesn’t know where her grandson is, she does get his mail and that she’ll pass the theft citation along to him.

 

Rode off with the riding mower

A man driving a green Silverado stole a riding lawnmower the morning of June 25 from Beisswengar’s Hardware in the 1800 block of Old Highway 8. The mower had been stacked along the north side of the store, a loss of $1,579.99.

 

Randoms in the camper

A man who’d rented a woman his camper, which he parks in the 700 block of Fifth Street, told police the night of June 20 that two random people had taken the camper over, apparently with permission from the woman to whom he’d originally rented. Police extracted from the camper a 49-year-old Blaine man and a 51-year-old woman from St. Paul. The man said he’d gotten in a fight with his parents, with whom he lives, and the woman had just gotten in a fight with her boyfriend, so they’d needed a place to hang out. Police found methamphetamine on the man, who was booked at the Ramsey County Jail for felony drug possession. The woman was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia after a meth pipe was found on her.

 

Stolen phone

A 21-year-old employee at the McDonald’s in the 1100 block of Silver Lake Road forgot her iPhone 7 on a table during her break; security footage tells the story of what happened to the phone next. A young man walked up to the table holding a tray, on which he put the phone. While emptying the tray into the garbage he pocketed the phone and then left. The phone’s a loss of $250, along with the woman’s credit card, which was held in the phone’s case.

 

Walk it off ...

A man was seen walking away from his Jeep, which he’d crashed into a tree the evening of June 25 at the intersection of County Road E and Old Highway 8; a passerby reported the scene to police. Officers tracked down the man, who said he’d swerved to avoid an animal; he ended up having a revoked license and seemed to be under the influence of a stimulant. The man said he’d used methamphetamine that week. ID’d as a 38-year-old, he was booked at the Ramsey County Jail for fourth-degree DWI and driving with a revoked license.

 

 

Shoreview

Arrests

Deputies nabbed three juveniles in the early morning hours of June 21 on Lexington Avenue at Interstate 694 after they crashed their car and fled. The three were wanted by Woodbury police and Washington County Sheriff’s deputies for burglary and auto theft. 

 

Stolen bike

A 35-year-old man parked his bike outside the Shoreview Community Center in the 4500 block of Victoria Street on June 22 without locking it to the bike rack and it was stolen, a $200 loss.

 

Theft from auto

A 33-year-old Anoka man and a 25-year-old Champlin woman told police the evening of June 16 that someone had broken into their car as it was parked in the 3600 block of Victoria Street. The thief smashed the front passenger window and stole a purse and a laptop.

 

Turtle in a window well

A caller from the 3500 block of Tiffany Lane told police June 18 they had a snapping turtle stuck in their egress window. Deputies don’t remove wild animals from private property, so the caller was told some of their options; eventually a neighbor pulled the turtle out with a fishing net then wheelbarrowed it down to the lake.

 

 

St. Anthony

Act natural ...

An officer in the parking lot of the Cub Foods in the 3900 block of Silver Lake Road on June 11 saw a man in a passing car duck as the officer passed. The officer stopped the car and found that the man, a 26-year-old, had four outstanding warrants: two out of Hennepin County for theft and drugs, another out of Stearns County for drugs and another out of Wright County for driving with a suspended license. The man was booked at the Ramsey County Jail. The 23-year-old woman driving the car was given a verbal warning for possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

Broken window investigation

A 71-year-old man who lives in the 2700 block of Murray Avenue on June 11 reported a broken window on his garage. The man found a lacrosse ball in the garage that does not belong to him.

 

DWI

Police arrested a 30-year-old Maplewood man June 16 on 29th Avenue at Highway 88 for third-degree DWI. He blew a .18 blood alcohol concentration and was booked at the Ramsey County Jail.

 

Recovered car

A caller told police June 10 there appeared to be an abandoned car in the parking lot at apartments in the 3700 block of Foss Road. It came up as stolen out of St. Paul and was impounded.

 

Stolen car

A 30-year-old man told police June 10 that his 2001 Honda CRV was stolen overnight from his apartment parking lot in the 3700 block of Foss Road.
